Description

WITHOUT EXHAUST GAS AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM Based on expertise from truck and agricultural technology: can be used globally and achieves low fuel consumption MAN D3876 Designed for use in locomotives, with 138 mm bore and 170 mm stroke, the MAN D3876 LE63x generates a maximum torque of 3,000 Nm at 1,200 to 1,500 rpm. The 15.3-litre engine achieves its high torque plateau and optimum torque curve thanks to the VTG (variable turbine geometry) turbocharger and the injection system offering up to 2,500 bar. This generates a combustion optimised for the scope of application which ensures low fuel consumption – one of MAN Engines’ leading development objectives. Thanks to its compact design and high performance level, the MAN D3876 LE63x is ideally suited for modern and resource-friendly drive concepts in rail vehicles. The D3876 six-cylinder in-line engine – well-established and successful in practical application as the most powerful unit in trucks since 2014. It was also released for agricultural applications in 2015 and for applications in the construction industry in 2016. The D3876 earned the title “Diesel of the Year 2016”, in particular for its base concept and high-strength materials. With the further developed D3876 for locomotives, which was previously presented as a concept at InnoTrans 2016, MAN Engines is bridging the gap in performance between the well-established in-line 6-cylinder and V12 engines for rail applications.
