Optical data transmitter LS682, LS684

For years, Pepperl+Fuchs with the brand Visolux has been one of the leading manufacturers of optical data communication systems and has offered a complete, state-of-the-art product portfolio with numerous options used around the world. Optical data transmission systems allow bi-directional communication for storage and retrieval systems, transfer cars, automated guided vehicles, and monorail conveyors. They replace complex and problematic cables, slip rings, and other transmission methods. The transfer between two stations takes place with infrared light, which is modulated by a data clock. Optical data couplers with many common interfaces used in industry are available. The data transfer takes place either serially or in 8-bit parallel mode. The new LS684 complements the LS682 by offering a robust optical data transfer with real-time properties for fieldbuses such as PROFINET IRT and EtherCAT. Equipped with automatic runtime compensation, the LS684 allows constant cycle time for synchronous, jitter-free switching and control operations for both sides of the transmission path – at any distance and any driving dynamics.
