Description

Product overview
Fine wires made of pure tungsten and potassium-doped tungsten are designed for demanding medical components such as brain stimulation, neuronal research, surgical robots, stents, catheter guide wires and electro-surgery. With minimum diameters down to 0.010 mm, these ultra-fine wires provide high radiopacity due to tungsten's density, supporting image-guided procedures.

Materials and quality
Available grades include pure W and specialized tungsten alloys (WK65, WL10). High material purity, electropolished surface finish, very low diametral tolerance and freedom from surface fissures contribute to biocompatibility and consistent mechanical performance. Each production batch is subject to comprehensive in-house laboratory testing and quality control.

Your advantages at a glance
  • Decades of experience in medical technology
  • High material purity > 99.5% (depending on grade)
  • Minimum diameter available: 0.010 mm
  • Electropolished, split-free surface finish
  • Thorough quality control in our own laboratory
  • Development partnerships for customized solutions

Applications
  • Guide wires for catheter procedures — enhanced X‑ray visibility
  • Needle and wire-loop electrodes for electro-surgery — precision cutting and coagulation
  • Fine wires for surgical robots and micro-instruments — high machining accuracy
  • Stents, implantable components, brain stimulation and neuronal study components

Materials / Standard grades (excerpt)
Material | Purity | Diameter | UTS (MPa) | Elongation | Surface treatment
W | > 99.97% W | 18 - 30 µm | > 3,400 | > 1.8 | Electropolished
WK65 | 99.5% W (60 - 65 ppm K) | 18 - 30 µm | > 3,000 | > 1.5 | Electropolished
WL10 | 99% W (1% La) | 18 - 30 µm | > 4,000 | > 1.0 | Electropolished

Manufacturing & supply chain
Integrated in-house production from ultrapure oxide reduction through powder processing to wire manufacture. Global sourcing and manufacturing network ensures capacity for prototypes, small series and large-scale production. Comprehensive material testing and process development support qualification and scale-up.
