Significant performance benefits in profile machining are provided by a new concept from Sandvik Coromant. Enhanced stable clamping and improved security are offered by the CoroTurn TR by way of a robust T-rail interface between the holder and insert.
Extreme tool pressures occur with profiling operations and the insert is often left open during machining in conventional clamping designs which reduce the quality and tolerance of the components. The T-rail design combats this by using vertical and horizontal rails to provide a stronger support for the insert in the tool holder. This decreases the insert movement and leads to higher quality components being manufactured which have a closer tolerance. A long insert screw can also enhance stability. This will hold the insert clamped deep within the holder. The well-designed geometries produces advanced design leading to better evacuation of chips, which then produces less downtime during maching.
