The Hydrokompenser is the original automatic balancing system, designed for applications where installing a mechanical balance head onto the spindle is not possible due to space. Typical applications are machines with automatic tool changers, HSK type tooling & drawbars running through the spindle.
Individual grinding wheels or grinding wheel assemblies can be balanced fully automatically, under operational conditions, with high reliability & accuracy. Our SB-5500 control is now a part of the Hydrokompenser system, allowing greater speed, accuracy and ease of use. Communication with the machine control is via profibus or hardwire interface.
The Hydrokompenser system uses existing water or oil based cutting coolant. A four-chamber balance chamber is integrated into the grinding wheel arbour (hub) or flange, allowing for injection of the machine coolant. To achieve balance, a compensation counterweight is produced by addition of coolant to the chambered container that offsets the imbalance of the wheel assembly.
Magnitude and angle of the imbalance are determined by a special measurement technique, using rpm & vibration sensors as inputs. A control unit processes this information to monitor the balance condition of the machine, & to control the balancing operation. The balance correction fluid is supplied via four injection nozzles to the four respective correction pockets with the chamber. Delivery of fluid required for balancing is controlled by solenoid valves.
The fluid chamber can be custom designed to integrate into the machine tool structure, utilising space.
Schmitt Hofmann Hydrokompenser HK-5000 & HK-4410 units can be upgraded to the SB-5500-H controller.
