Description

With the RHIZON soil solution extractor a new and simple method has been developped to extract water out of the soil. With these samplers another method is finally available than the ceramic cup lysimeter (very thin extractor) Dissolved organic and anorganic matter will not absorbed in the soil moisture sampler. The RHIZON soil solution extractor is a disposable sampler that consists of a tube made of porous polymer (external diameter is about 2,5 mm only) connected to a PVC tube and a connector for the connection to a vacuum tube in glass. The porous material (as a jacket) is renforced (inside the jacket) by a stainles steel wire. The wetted RHIZON soil solution extractor is preferably placed horizontaly in the moist soil in which situation the water present acts as a kind of lubricant during introduction. Due to the minimal disturbance, the soil will quickly settle, resulting in a good sampler-soil contact. A sample is obtained by placing the sampler under vacuum. The vacuum is obtained using a vacuum tube or a syringe. The RHIZON soil solution extractor is availablein 5 cm or 10 cm length. The RHIZON soil solution extractor is available in a standard set with among other items : Complete system (with PVC tube, connectors and protective caps), a set needles with protective caps and a set of plastic vaccum tubes with a 9 ml contents (10 pieces/each). The vacuum tubes have a limited storage life. Key Advantages LOW DISTURBANCE OF THE SOIL (small diam.). LOW DEAD VOL. (<0,5ml). THE SAMPLE REMAINS pH NEUTRAL. INEXPENSIVE Disadvantages Small sampling volume (<10ml)
