Description

The Automatic Macroporous Resin Adsorption Unit AMR-A is an automated adsorption and separation system designed for purification of targeted compounds in pharmaceutical manufacturing and for concentration/refinement of traditional Chinese medicine extracts. It integrates macroporous resin adsorption technology with distributed control automation (DCS) to enable high-throughput preparative separation, high product concentration and improved process repeatability.

System components and key features
  • Automation Control System: Advanced DCS distributed control strategy for centralized control and data acquisition of pumps, valves and online detectors; supports multi‑column series and parallel operation for stable and accurate processing.
  • Automatic control functions: Real‑time control and acquisition for flow and pressure transmitters; supports up to four‑column series/parallel configurations to ensure process stability and accuracy.
  • Resin column design: Optimized column height‑to‑diameter ratio, precise inlet/outlet fluid distribution devices, automatic resin filling system and compressed‑air interface to ensure uniform packing and efficient regeneration.
  • Online detection (optional): Routine monitoring of flow, pressure and temperature; optional pH and conductivity; optional spectroscopy for real‑time active ingredient monitoring (UV spectroscopy, near‑infrared spectroscopy).

Characteristics of macroporous resin adsorption and separation
  • Selective adsorption of active components from herbal decoctions or process streams, removing ineffective substances and impurities to produce concentrated extracts with reduced volume and moisture compared with traditional boiling or sedimentation methods.
  • Extraction yields and benefits: typical refined extract yield around 2–5% of original material (versus ≈30% for boiling and ≈15% for sedimentation); lower heavy‑metal residues; stable, low‑moisture extracts suitable for downstream solid dosage forms (granules, capsules, tablets).
  • Process automation advantages: computerized monitoring enables program control, automatic detection, pipeline transport and improved equipment reliability and process repeatability.

Technical specifications
  • Application: Purification of target compounds in pharmaceuticals and concentration/refinement of traditional Chinese medicine extracts.
  • Preparative capacity: Engineered for high‑throughput preparative chromatography and super‑high sample loading.
  • Control architecture: DCS distributed control with centralized workstation interface; multi‑column series/parallel capability including four‑column operation.
  • Monitored parameters / detectors: flow, pressure, temperature; optional: pH, conductivity, UV spectroscopy, near‑infrared spectroscopy for real‑time active ingredient monitoring.
  • Column / resin handling: Optimized column H/D ratio; precise inlet/outlet distribution; automatic resin filling; compressed‑air interface for packing and regeneration.
  • Performance & product quality: High active ingredient concentration, low impurities, reduced moisture uptake, effective reduction of heavy metals; produces compact, low‑moisture extracts suitable for modern dosage forms.
  • Automation & operation: Computerized program control, automatic detection, pipeline transport and enhanced repeatability and reliability of production.
