Overview
The FRS-A automatic pre-moisturising unit is designed for used foundry sand immediately after sand/casting separation to prevent drying of the moulding material and to improve subsequent processing.

Operation and design notes
Water is applied in controlled doses into the falling sand stream, typically by nozzles positioned above belt transfer points. After moisturising, thorough mixing is recommended to ensure uniform moisture distribution and cooling. Mixing can be achieved by simple mechanical means or by motor-driven beaters or ribbon mixers.

Installation / Typical components

• Water nozzles mounted above belt transfer points for dosing into the falling sand flow
• Motor-driven beaters or ribbon mixers for post-moisture homogenisation
• Rakes or scrapers for mechanical redistribution
• Integration with conveyor belt scales and dosing systems

Customization
System layout, nozzle positioning and mixing equipment are adapted to each sand plant’s configuration and process requirements.

Associated measurement / sensor options

• Capacitive sensor SC 7100 (wedge-shaped) for level/moisture monitoring
• Pt100 temperature sensors: TF 6 - 100 and TF 6 - 200
