Features
The Chardon Control Valve Diode Tester is designed to quickly test an Automobile A/C Compressor’s
Electronic Control Valve for an embedded Diode. The test has two indicators that are used to identify
a diode being present and confirming that it is present in the Control Valve. This is accomplished by a
Red and a Green LED to indicate the potential status when the Control Valve is correctly connected and
the pushbutton is toggled.
When a connection is made to the Control Valve terminal block or by plug in cable, the unit will determine
if the connection is correct and the coil is good by the Red LED being ON and the meter indicating 2 to
3 VDC. If the meter reads 0 to 1 VDC, reverse the leads to the terminal block. If the meter reads>4 VDC there
either a bad, or open, connection or the coil has an open winding. Once the Red LED is on and the meter
reads 2 to 3 VDC, press the pushbutton and observe if the Red LED goes off. The Red LED should be off. If
the Green LED is on and the meter reads 2 to 3 VDC, there is not a diode in the coil. If the Green LED goes
out and the meter reads>4 VDC there is a good diode in the coil.
