medium-voltage disconnect switch / high-voltage / vacuum
Max.: 145,000 V
Min.: 0 V
Siemens has over 40 years of experience in producing medium-voltage vacuum interrupters and delivered more than 5.5 million units.
Siemens introduced this proven technology to high-voltage power networks in 2010. The hermetically sealed vacuum interrupters are reliable and maintenance free thanks to its “sealed for life” technology.
The most important characteristics and advantages:
•Suitable for frequent switching: high number of short circuit interruptions with excellent switching features over the entire service life of the vacuum interrupter
Perfect for low temperatures
•Switch medium does not liquefy
No CO2e (equivalent) emissions
•Switch medium (vacuum) with greenhouse potential (GWP) = 0
•No CO2e emissions during operation, maintenance or recycling
•No emission or emission compensation costs throughout the service life
Clean air as an insulating medium
Vacuum interrupting technology enables the implementation of clean air as an insulating medium for gas-insulated switchgear up to 145 kV. Siemens clean air technology is the first F-gas-free insulation for high-voltage GIS. It represents an important step towards the company goal of developing completely environmentally friendly technologies.
Clean air is made up of 80% N2 and 20% O2, is cleaned and free of humidity (synthetic air).
Clean air does not have global warming potential (GWP = 0) or ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0).
Clean air advantages
•Non-toxic, non-flammable, very stable
•Low boiling point, does not liquefy in low temperature applications
•C-gas-free without risk of carbon decomposition in switching or insulation gas compartments
