Fully-Automated PV Module Laminator
The Spi-Laminator 2345 is a fully-automated photovoltaic module laminator that bonds multiple layers of materials together with thermoplastic or thermosetting films such as ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) polymer. The processing chamber of the laminator has temperature, vacuum and atmospheric pressure capabilities which are independently controlled to provide optimum lamination processing conditions for particular materials and configurations including glass/backsheet, double glass and rigid substrates.
The Spi-Laminator 2345 is capable of handling both crystalline silicon and thin film modules, and may operate as a stand-alone system or be integrated into a fully-automated production line. In automatic mode, a programmed process sequence also controls the loading and unloading of the system.
The upper chamber assembly diaphragm sheet can be removed and replaced without the use of hand tools. In order to increase the diaphragm life, the system uses release sheets and teflon coated heating platens. Excess EVA material is cleaned from the transfer belt automatically by a brush roller unit.
The system includes load and unload conveyors. The platen design includes integrated module lift pins that are able to lift a solar module up to 5 mm and a mechanical locking system on the upper chamber to prevent it from lowering during a power interruption. Light curtains are integrated into the design for operator safety. The system is designed and documented using metric (S.I.) units and hardware unless otherwise noted.
