Description

Since the main use of the table is the rotation, the user may require the rotary table for drilling operations and milling. Using the servo drives in conjunction with the machine CNC control this allows full interpolation(1) with other axis of the machine. The rotary table is driven through two motorized gear boxes with two functions: During the turning application both motors support 50% of the drive each in continuous operation, working both at 100% of its envalope. During the milling (C axis) , one motor develops a slave function in which one motor drives and the other is used to remove the backlash. The CNC moniters constantly the backlash clearance between the two gears through the master-slave system, allowing full control of positioning on the table for milling functions and interpolation. (1) The accelerations and positioning accuracies during milling operations and interpolations with asynchronous motors, are minor compared to the synchronous motors. If the user requires higher performance in milling operations and interpolation then two asynchronous motors will be required for turning and another two synchronous motors for milling functions and interpolation.
