Description

Product
CAPTA — acoustic sensor used to monitor noise emissions from industrial equipment and pipelines by detecting high-frequency acoustic waves generated by friction and impact of solids, granulates and dust on pipe walls. The sensor is maintenance-free and designed for quick outdoor installation without system shutdown.

Short description
CAPTA self-calibrates to the normal noise profile of the system and continuously monitors for significant changes in high-frequency noise emissions. Changes are detected and classified; spurious signals are automatically reset. Because detection is at high frequencies, the sensor is largely insensitive to background and low-frequency mechanical vibration noise, enabling focused monitoring of process- or material-related events. When a variation is detected the device provides an output signal and a warning.

Integration and outputs
The sensor provides a 0–10 V analogue output suitable for direct connection to a PLC. It can be integrated with an optional control unit that supplies an isolated 4 ÷ 20 mA output and two relay outputs. CAPTA is powered by DC 23–30 V (control unit power supply 90 ÷ 253 Vac). The standard operating temperature range is –40 to 85°C; a high-temperature version is available up to 125°C.
