The unit is manufactured by Imtech Ventilex, and is a flash dryer that is ideal for use in processing fine powder-like materials. Its rated residence time is short, and it relies on either the moisture or solvent to be removed to be unbound. The unit uses gas stream in order to transport the materials. Flash Drying can be used as a pneumatic transport, and also to transfer thermal energy with the use of a carrier gas. The carrier gas is normally air.
The gas stream is heated, and this can be attained with the use of either natural gas, propane, steam, and as well as waste heat. The flash dryer needs an accelerated air stream, and is it is supplied by a high pressure fan.
