A Kelly Cock valve is a ball style check valve, it is a piece of drilling equipment used to prevent blowout. Western Drilling Tools has been designing, machining and testing Kelly Cocks for years. The Kelly Cock is a manually operated ball valve and requires a wrench that is also manufactured in Western Drilling's machine shop. The Kelly Cock is located above or below the Kelly but can be located anywhere above the drill pipe and used in the drill string to prevent flow up in emergencies. The primary function of the Kelly Cock Valve is as a safety system. Another common use for a Kelly Cock is to prevent the loss of mud while tripping or making connections. The WDT Kelly Cock Valve is easy to operate and pressure tested to 2500PSI. As a standard, Western Drilling can build and certify its Kelly Cock Valves up to 10,000 PSI (6.8 MPA). Each Kelly Valve is pressure tested and certified. Precision machining and excellent quality control set WDT Kelly Cock Valves apart from the rest. All of the components and parts are manufactured out of North American steel and all machining is done in Canada.
