The difficult task of loading and unloading loose products from railcars is made easy by the Newland RC range. Using its pivoting boom the RC can reach right through the railcar door and then pivot through 90 degrees to reach the end of the railcar. The Railcar Loader is available as either a loading or unloading belt conveyor, they are not reversible.
The boom pivots feature a unique braking system which holds the machine in the desired position. Using its
pivoting booms, the Railcar Loader can reach right in through the centre door and then pivot 90° to reach the end of the railcar. However, if the railcar door is struck as the machine enters or exits, then the pivot will slip on its brake, preventing the machine from damaging its pivot system or the railcar.

The screw conveyor is the most commonly used equipment in mechanic conveyance and volumetric batching of solid powdered and granulated products. Versions available for conveyors are the following:
- "U" section closed by a sealing cover.
- Tube section.
The seals on the end mountings are realized with a double ring; the chamber between the two rings can be pressurized. Any possible intermediate mountings may be realized with bushings of different special materials, in accordance with the type of product. The bushing can be flowed with compressed air.

- stainless steel AISI 304 or AISI 316
The drive is supplied by geared motor and chain transmission.

Metalfab's highly accurate, dependable Model DB2 volumetric screw feeder has only five moving parts - drive, coupling, 2 bearings and a screw. The large diameter inlet to the V-shaped trough, which helps insure complete filling of screw flights, provides feed accuracies of +/- 1 to 1 1/2%. When a Metalfab Posibin or Bin Activator is used to supply the feeder, even greater accuracies may be obtained.
A bin activator is recommended when feed rates are more than 1,000 cu. ft./hr. or non-free flowing materials are in process. Flight-type screws with through shafts are standard. Oversize ball bearings which are sealed and provided with grease fittings support the shaft. Operating noise levels are within OSHA requirements. All moving parts are guarded and the screw section is totally enclosed.

Sortation systems are used when a fairly high flow of cases, totes or pieces need to flow to different destinations. Destinations may be conveyors assigned to individual truck docks, truck routes, customer orders or other order consolidation assignments. There are several sortation technologies used to accomplish these tasks.
Many operations require sort rates less than 30 items per minute. Tote systems, smaller case distribution operations, service parts centers and many other operations require cost effective low rate sortation technologies.
Diverter Arms. The most cost effective sortation devices available are diverter arms. Some are shaped like “baseball bats” and come across the conveyor to deflect products at an angle, 30° typically, onto a different conveyor. Other diverters are curved to divert to product onto a take away conveyor at 90° while maintaining product orientation. Diverter arms can be manually activated, or they can be controlled automatically with scanning technology.
Right Angle Transfers. A right angle transfer operates by engaging the bottom of a unit-load, lifting it off the transportation conveyor and transferring it onto another conveyor at a 90° angle. Transfers mechanisms can be chain transfers or belt transfers. Typical rates achieved are 8 – 20 sorts per minute depending on the size and stability of the product.
