Over the years Screw Conveyors for specific purposes have been developed. Cement Screw Conveyors and Feeders for concrete batching plants were the first to be industrialised in the early 1970s. Later came light-duty Flour Milling Screw Conveyors with synthetic maintenance-free intermediate bearings.
Heavy-duty Cement Screw Conveyors, as used in the concrete industry, are particularly robust and equipped with self-adjusting stuffing boxes.

Scope of use
For transporting of uniform powdery products into automatic packaging machine and batch meters.
Operation principle
By means of a screw, the product is fed into the desired device in a closed system. Size and output is adjusted to customer needs.

The screw conveyor is the most commonly used equipment in mechanic conveyance and volumetric batching of solid powdered and granulated products. Versions available for conveyors are the following:
- "U" section closed by a sealing cover.
- Tube section.
The seals on the end mountings are realized with a double ring; the chamber between the two rings can be pressurized. Any possible intermediate mountings may be realized with bushings of different special materials, in accordance with the type of product. The bushing can be flowed with compressed air.
The following versions are available:
- carbon steel
- stainless steel AISI 304 or AISI 316
The drive is supplied by geared motor and chain transmission.

Technical specifications
The AccuVeyor® AVY is one of the single-lane accumulators in the AccuVeyor® family of accumulators. Its principle is based on a serie of parallel belts following the spiral track. To increase accumulation capacity, the in-feed divert sequentially selects a different lane to fill. The discharge merge selects a lane to be emptied in a first-in first-out sequence.

The spiral elevator allows transport of goods, up or down in manufacturing and packaging lines, or for the distribution between the line and the warehousing area. The spiral elevator offers efficient elevation without stop losses, a compact footprint and trouble free operation.
As the spiral elevator is working with a constant flow, the production flow can run without interruption and stop losses. The chain is of a patented design offering a smooth transport, low noise and a high mean time between failures (MTBF).
The spiral elevator is a standardized module offering a short delivery time, fast installation and ramp-up. The elevation is in the range of 1500–4000 mm with inlet height 800, 900 or 1000 mm.

Steinless Steel Spirals
The result of many years of experience and of several applications with brittle products, the Cusinato spirals are well adapted to all those cases where the materials have to be handled as they drop and yet be kept rigorously undamaged.
Made entirely of stainless steel, they are available in various configurations, such as in the case when the product is dropped and fed for filling the storage silos or simply for the conveyance and drop of the product between two conveying systems (as for example, between two horizontal belt conveyors) on different levels. Because of their very wide use in the production and handling of pasta, the spirals have been continuously upgraded both in their design and in their performance so much so that they are being used successfully for handling and for storage into silos together with other brittle food products (for ex, snack, dried fruits, dried legumes, etc.).
The spiral chutes are built entirely at the Cusinato factory using special machines and equipment purposely designed for this function; so that, aside from the diameters of normal production, (the standard 500 mm and the more recent 800 mm), other models may be produced with various diameters, and spirals with different pitch and cross-sections so as to cover other requirements in terms of capacity and type of product to be handled.

High Throughput
The spirals convey loads up or down in a continuous flow, thereby facilitating high throughput. The standard load capacity is 75 pounds per linear foot of conveyor for speeds up to 200 feet per minute.
One Drive
The Ryson Spiral Conveyors need only one drive motor, even for units several stories tall. This equals to substantial savings in controls and systems integrations.
Small Footprint
The Ryson Spiral Conveyors have the smallest footprint available and therefore provide substantial space savings compared to conventional methods. Several standard sizes are available and the outside diameter varies depending on the size of loads to be handled.
