Graphite is used as an electrode material in electrical discharge machining. Compared to copper, graphite offers a number of advantages that benefit the entire process chain of molding and forging tool manufacture. These advantages significantly reduce the cost of tools manufactured by electrical discharge machining, while maintaining or even enhancing quality standards.
SGL Group offers a wide range of electrical discharge electrodes with finishes ranging from coarsely roughened to ultrafine.
We supply standard semifinished products in rectangular and cylindrical formats, as well as blanks manufactured to customer specification and also ready-to-use electrodes matched to your clamping system.
We offer a 24-hour delivery service for all semifinished products and a number of standard products.

Graphite discs are very resistant to aggressive fluids, even at high temperature.
Bursting pressure has low sensitivity to temperature variations.
Graphite discs are made of high purity graphite impregnated with phenolic resins in order to make the product non porous
Opening is total but with fragmentation.
Donadon SDD supply three graphite disc models:
• GA type, a graphite rupture disc mounted on a Stainless steel (or other metal) ring that may be directly inserted between flanges. This disc is very versatile because has both the robustness of a metal holder and the performance of a graphite disc.
• GR type, a graphite rupture disc mounted on a graphite or metal holder. This disc is economic and versatile.
GM type, a monoblock graphite rupture disc that may be directly inserted between flanges.
Vacuum support is required for rupture pressures below 1.7 barg. At higher calibrations the disc is self-supporting.

Graphite electrodes are used for the recycling of steel in the electric arc furnace industry, so called "mini-mills." We do not simply provide graphite electrodes and nipples as stand alone products to our customers. Rather, the focus is on the delivery of an entire "product system", supported by sales and technical experts from the receipt of the customer's order, throughout the entire production process, to final product in the steel plants.
Properties and Characteristics - Matching your needs
The graphite electrode load diagram shows mean values based on our experience. Precise evaluation is only possible under specific furnace conditions

The series comprises two instruments:
contrAA 300, the high-resolution continuum source AAS for flame and hydride technology
contrAA 700, a compact, versatile system for flame, hydride and graphite furnace technology, capable of analyzing liquid as well as solid samples in one single instrument.
- Just one light source for all elements
- Sequential multi-element routine as standard
- Unique simultaneous background correction
- High sample throughput
- Rapid readiness for measurement
- Easy to operate and robust
- Independence of hollow cathode lamps
The protracted burn-in time of the light source, necessary for conventional line sources, is now also no longer required, since any drift phenomena are corrected simultaneously. The use of a xenon lamp as a continuous source of radiation opens up the entire wavelength range relevant for AAS for the customer in just one step. Previously, individual methods predominated; now the sequential multielement-routine has become standard. This provides enormous savings in time and cost of materials. The evaluation of molecular absorption bands, allowing the analysis of additional elements, such as sulfur or phosphorus, is a further innovation.
The unique resolution with a spectral bandwidth of below 2 pm/ pixel is decisive for the new quality of the measurement results. Interference is minimized through optimum line separation. Errors, which were caused by the limits of the resolution in traditional line AAS, can be identified for the first time and thereby avoided.
