Argon-Ion and Helium-Neon Laser Products
With more than 20 years of gas laser production, JDSU continues to be the world leader in air-cooled argon-ion and helium-neon gas laser production. A combination of proven design and world-class manufacturing result in reliable products that exceed demanding customer requirements. Argon-ion products include single-line and multiline models, with powers up to 75 mW; 458 to 515 nm. Helium-neon laser products are offered in tube and head versions, with output powers up to 22.5 mW; 633 nm.

The helium neon laser was the first laser to be used in volume applications. Currently, there are millions of HeNe lasers in the field, and only the semiconductor diode laser is produced in greater volume. The key to the HeNe's success has been its low cost, small size, long operating life (as much as 50,000 operating hours), and unsurpassed beam quality. HeNe lasers produce milliwatts of output power and are available in a variety of wavelengths ranging from 543 nm (green) to 1.523 ìm (infrared). The most common wavelength is the familiar 633 nm (red). These lasers are small, convection cooled, and can be operated from ordinary household power or even from batteries.

The CL-200 Series is the original line generating laser. These lasers generate a 5 milliwatt (633.3 nm) ruby red line to illuminate a variety of cutting applications.
Although the HeNe lasers were state of the art when they were introduced, they are now being replaced with the newer, less expensive, solid state diode technology. The diode lasers are much smaller and easier to install, therefore, the cost of a diode diode, in most cases, is less than what it would cost to repair a HeNe laser.

Research Electro-Optics, Inc. (REO) has been a
leader in the fi eld of high performance and high
reliability Helium-Neon lasers for over twenty years.
The vast majority of our laser tubes manufactured
over the years have been incorporated into medical,
scientifi c and critical manufacturing instruments. This
experience, combined with our on-staff technical
expertise and fl exible manufacturing structure, makes
REO uniquely suited to supplying Helium-Neon lasers
for performance critical applications.
REO's primary strength in the Helium-Neon laser
market is our in-house optical fabrication and coating
capability. It is widely acknowledged that mirror
performance is one of the most critical factors in
maintaining consistently long laser life. Manufacturing
these components in-house is the best way to
develop insight into the technical factors affecting
mirror performance and to ensure consistent mirror
quality. Our technical insight into optimizing mirror
performance provides our laser products with
competitive advantages in terms of output power
and laser lifetimes. Utilizing enhanced designs and
superior components, these lasers deliver unsurpassed
operational stability and longer laser lifetimes.
