OVERVIEW
Any mechanical assembly in working order generates vibrations that are source of harmful frequencies.
To bring an answer to this main drawback, Daniel GASTEL designed and patented a new laminated product called SILENTLINE®.
SILENTLINE® is a composite of metal and synthetic material, which has the immense advantage of dispersing - therefore dampen - frequency transmission. And this to a very large extent. Product picture here.
ADVANTAGES
I. The cost of SILENTLINE® laminated shims is practically equivalent to that of shims made of other laminated materials. So there is no economic obstacle to their use.
II. The mechanical characteristics of laminated shims are improved with this material.
CETIM tested two probes, both in 2 mn thickness :
a) The first one, conventional, entirely consisting of peelable metal leaves: achieved Vickers value = 440 MPA.
b) The second one manufactured in the new material : achieved Vickers value = 510 MPA.
III. SILENTLINE® laminated shims which thus require less maintenance and are less subject to wear.
PERFORMANCES
Tests carried out by CETIM on this new material show its capacity to tone down - in a spectacular way - the two consequences of a harmful frequency emission :
- Absorption or dampening and dispersion of 45 to 50 % of the amplitude
- Reduction by 50 to 55 % of the emission duration.
This is therefore a high performance material. |

OVERVIEW
INTERCOMPOSITE® is a LAMECO patented composite material made of a glycol polyethylene terephthalate film obtained by a slit-die extrusion process, followed by a double-drawing.
ADVANTAGES
Lightness
As an answer to a lightening requirement ( for more autonomy, more useful carrying capacity... ). INTERCOMPOSITE®* is one of the lightest of laminated materials.
Good physical, mechanical, thermic and chemical characteristics
Adaptation to curved shapes
INTERCOMPOSITE® has the property to immediately adapt itself to most curves without anyloss of precision. And this on the very assembly site.
Facility and rapidity of use
You can peel INTERCOMPOSITE® with your forefinger (you don't need any tool).
Low cost
INTERCOMPOSITE® is the least expensive of all our laminated materials. |

OVERVIEW
X.FIBER® is a laminated material, designed and patented by Daniel GASTEL.
This composite material comes in the form of woven fiber sheets, which can be manufactured in several different ways:
- glass, carbon, aramide, ceramic fibers or
- any combination of two or more of these different fibers.
The sheets are held together by a heat-hardened resin, the resulting material delivers both very high technical performance and excellent peelability.
ADVANTAGES
Lightness
When the demand is for lighter materials, X.FIBER® proves itself by far the lightest of laminated materials (5 1/2 times lighter than steel!).
Strength
Being both lighter and stronger, it can be used to great advantage as a replacement for carbon and stainless steels..
Endurance
It is comparable with laminated metals, and can be used to replace INTERCOMPOSITE® in use at temperatures above 266°F (130°C).
Its mechanical properties remain unaffected by the rise in temperature.
Rapidity
The sheets can be peeled by hand, without the need for tools of any kind.
Ingenuity and Economy
Once they have been peeled, the sheets remain flat and free of deformation. They remain fully re-useable. |

Any mechanical assembly requires machining tolerances. In a complex assembly of several hundred or thousand parts the tolerances of each part are added up. This is why "clearances" of several millimeters are found once the assembly is completed.
These clearances have to be compensated in order for the assembly to fulfill its function.
To compensate assembly clearances, Lameco offers a solution, definitively technology-oriented : the laminated shim.
Principle : it is designed from metals or composites which have the property of "peeling" in the thickness direction into thin strips of a few hundredth millimeters.
LAMINATED SHIMS ADVANTAGES
Time saving, precision unquestionably improved, saving of grinding machine, all these elements account for the laminated shim's excellent quality/price ratio.
Speed and simplicity : peel laminated shims with forefinger or scalpel. No need for special tools, no grinding.
Precision : laminated shim guarantees optimal precision (which pilings cannot achieve in any way.)
Flexibility : they satisfy standards in wide range of industrial machine and assembly line applications |

PRESENTATION
LAMECO is the first to associate an electronic identifier to the laminated shim, allowing it to communicate.
Principle : a chip is inserted within the shim's layers. Next, the chip is coded : the shim's identity is stored in it. From that moment on, the information contained in the chip can be deciphered by a hand-held reader.
ADVANTAGES
Security
The electronic identifier is not rewritable : thus, one cannot falsify information regarding the Qar.X.DATA-SHIM®.
It is physically inviolable : any attempt to extract it will cause it to self-destruct.
It solves the problem of the main inconvenience of stamp-marking : the superficial folios no longer being the sole medium for identification of shims, as many shims as desired can be peeled, without as much as risking loss of their identifying data.
The electronic identifier provides protection against collision with other chips that could be present in the system.
Flexibility
The electronic identifier can be remote-read :
when the Qar.X DATA-SHIM® is installed.
when the equipment in which it is located is in service.
Simplification
Assembly as well as maintenance are simplified.
As a matter of fact, a general reader makes it possibles to identify all Qar.X DATA-SHIM® present in a unit of equipement.
Universality
The electronic identifier can improve all your shims.

For this peelable shim, Jicey has developed a marking concept that immediately shows which side is to be peeled according to the thickness (0.025 - 0.050 - 0.100 mm).
This patented concept consists in the marking of the elementary thickness directly on the centre of the shim, which is visible by transparency over the entire top thickness. The Viewtek ® process also uses a colour code for each of the proposed thicknesses. This makes it extremely user- friendly and enables two different thicknesses to be positioned without confusing them. |

M-Tech®L (Laminum), laminated, peelable Shims for the individual compensation of tolerances.
Georg Martin GmbH manufactures shim from sheet formats of our M-Tech®L laminated sheet based on client drawings. We are the only manufacturer in Germany to process laminated shim stock. The adjustment of thickness of a shim to a specific installation position is achieved by means of layer stripping of the laminates.
M-Tech®L products can be supplied in aluminium, aluminium wrought alloys, brass, unalloyed and stainless steel. The laminates are made up of layers with a thickness of 0.050 or 0.075 mm. The panel format is 1200 × 600 mm. Panel thickness of 0.5 to 3.2 mm can be supplied, special thicknesses are possible. |
|
Peelable shims are made up of a series of individual thin metal strips placed one on top of the other and glued over their entire surface to form a compact laminated block.
These individual strips can be very easily separated and removed to give the desired overall shim thickness. This procedure avoids the need for machining and adjustment associated with solid single component shims. it also replaces separate thin metal strips piled one on top of the other, thus avoiding "expansion". The quality of Althermill shims lies in the parallelism of the laminated layers and the accuracy with which the thickness can be adjusted. |
