Various applications of laser guide line lights
In many fabrication processes, it is helpful for the operator to be able to pre-visualize the path of the tool before the process begins. This offers benefits in efficiency through faster setups with less material waste, in quality through positioning surface features for best appearance and in safety through heightened operator awareness of the zone of danger represented by the tool's motion.
Since 1985, Z-LASER has offered laser guide line lights for just such applications. The bright, highly visible line produced by the laser provides exactly the reference the operator needs to ensure precise alignment between the material and the tool. Whether you require precise positioning for cutting, parts placement or machinery calibration, Z-LASER offers a large range of powerful, industry-tested lasers. The wide variety of available models and output power levels means it's easy to pick the right combination of features for the job at hand.

A range of compact and affordable laser modules generating an accurate line or cross at 635nm or 650nm with uniform intensity distribution. The laser modules measure just 29mm in length, with a diameter of only 8mm and are extremely efficient and reliable.
They are ideal for the most demanding industrial and medical applications where space is at a premium, such as handheld instrumentation, targeting, alignment and machine vision.
These laser diode modules generate either a 70 degree full angle cross or a 58 degree or 88 degree full angle line, all factory focused at 1000mm. The focus can be set to other distances on request. The lens system produces an efficiently uniform intensity laser line.
At a visible wavelength of either 650nm or 635nm, these compact laser diode modules offer output powers of 0.9mW or 4mW with power stability of less than 5 per cent. Operating voltage is from 3V to 6V DC at an operating current of 30mA typ, (0.9mW) or 40mA typ, (4mW). Operating temperature range is -10 degrees Centigrade to +40 degrees Centigrade.
The laser modules consist of a brass housing, a laser diode, drive circuit and beam-shaping optics. Electrical connections are made via external flying leads. All modules have static, surge and reverse polarity circuit protection. |

Z-LASER in Machine Vision
Laser projections of dots, dot matrices, lines, multi-lines, grids, circles and other patterns in combination with miscellaneous camera types play an important role in machine vision.
For single profile measurements a camera and a laser line are sufficient. Surface contour measurements of moving objects require a camera with distortion-free or telecentric optic, a line laser and image processing tools. Dot projections are suitable for simple presence check and height measurements, crosses and target projections are in high demand in robotics, circles are used for example for weld seam checks, multi lines, grids and point matrices allow taking a height profile in one image.
The industrial image processing has very high requirements to the features of the laser line. A good homogeneity of the light intensity and an even, non-gaussian light distribution, as well as a constant line width and a high sharpness of the laser line are absolutely necessary. The image processing with projected laser structures require reliable lasers with stable wavelengths and power output. The new ZV series of Z-LASER has been systematically been developed for these requirements.

Beam Benders are the basic building blocks of a conventional beam delivery system. A mirror located inside a holder is employed to turn the beam at a 90° angle (other angles are also possible). Depending on the particular mirror, beam benders are compatible with CO2, Nd:YAG and Fiber lasers.
The mirror holder can also feature water-cooling provisions for use with higher power lasers. Laser Mechanisms provides two basic styles of Beam Benders - a knuckle style for use with the small aperture series and articulated arms, and a block style for the large aperture series. Beam Benders also provide adjustment capability to properly align and steer the laser beam. Interlocked versions are available as a safety feature for when the mirror cap is removed. |
