Bimetallic temperature limiters are used for automatic temperature monitoring. They limit the temperature of machines or devices by opening the (power-load) electric circuit in the case of over-heating - or by shut-off for e.g. to switch on a ventilator or to activate an alarm.
The heat transfer occurs as a rule from all sides by convection, radiation or conduction in gaseous or solid mediums.
The bimetallic switches then return after a significant temperature decrease into the initial position (standard) or has to be switched back manually (self locking).
