These tiltmeter devices are used for indicating angle using a bent tube with either a ball or a bubble. In the ball type tilt meter, the ball moves to the lowest point of the curve under the effect gravity. In the bubble type, the bent tube is inverted and the bubble will move to the highest point. By reading the position of the ball or bubble against a graduated scale the angle can be read. This type of device is also known as a slope indicator, an angle gauge a clinometer and a gradiometer.
