Metso's submerged chain conveyors are use to collect, cool and dewater bottom ash. Ash falls continuously from a boiler through a discharge hopper into a water-filled chamber where the continuous-loop, dual-strand submerged chain conveyor cools it and transports it for disposal.

Like our dry drag conveyors, these machines move material at approximately 8 to 12 feet per minute and can have up to a 35 degree incline. This incline allows excess water to be drained from the material. For ease of maintenance, our submerged chain conveyors are designed on rollers for easy access to the boiler.
