After screening to remove the largest impurities, wastewater passes through a clarifier. Flow rate is reduced, allowing heavier material to drop to the bottom, while lighter substances float to the top, where they can be removed.
ApplicationsThis equipment is used in wastewater treatment. Installed after the screening basin in secondary treatment, it removes solids and material at the water's surface. It also can be used after biological treatment to remove the activated sludge employed in this process.
How to chooseClarifier size and configuration will depend on the volume of water to be treated, the types of impurities to be removed and, above all, the physical layout of the facility. Circular units are particularly well suited to this task since they facilitate reduction of the water flow.
