Description

S-2 Glass fiber products are the ultimate in high strength glass fiber that provides the highest level of performance available in all glass fibers. Produced with a higher content of silica than standard glass fiber products, S-2 glass fibers offer the ultimate physical properties including high tensile and compressive strength, high temperature resistance, improved impact resistance and toughness. YARNS Yarns are defined as a continuous strand of filaments coated with an engineered chemical coating or size (or sizing system), twisted together and used in weaving, knitting, braiding, plying and many other forms of fabric. AGY produces a range of S-2 Glass yarns with diameters from 5 to 9 microns, designed to meet your most demanding performance, processing and cost requirements by varying any one or all of the following fundamental components of the yarn: glass chemistry coating or binder chemistry diameter and number of the individual filaments in the bundle level and direction of the twist ROVINGS AGY produces both single ended and assembled rovings using the S-2 Glass formulation of glass fibers. Assembled rovings are available in a number of different yields from 2500 to 250 yrd/lb (203 to 2050 Tex). Our assembled rovings are also available with a range of sizing systems to optimize performance in a range of thermoset resin systems. AGY’s single end rovings, sometimes called ZenTron and VeTron, are available in fiber diameters from 9 micron to 26 microns to suit different processes and end uses and are available with sizing suitable for a range of both thermoset and thermoplastic resins.
