Ball valve seals are usually made using virgin or glass fibre-filled PTFE (or graphite) as a material. This last characteristic changes depending on the temperature to which the valve (and therefore its seal) will be subjected inside the system. As we mentioned previously, the movement of the ball valve occurs thanks to a 90° rotation and it is also important to remember that the gaskets compressed on the ball, as well as the seals on the shaft, do not have a long-lasting characteristic, indeed, we are talking about a life cycle of approximately 250,000 revolutions or movements: for this reason it is necessary to schedule, when you decide to purchase these products, preventive maintenance.
