Description

The ExpanTek® Triplex-Hydro Ball Expansion System is designed specifically for mechanical tube expansion applications. The ball expander process uses water pressure to force a ball through the inside of the tube, thus expanding tube to the desired diameter. The amount of expansion that takes place is related to the ball diameter and thickness of the tube wall. This method is used for straight length tubes where one operator performs the expansion. The TH Ball Expansion System expands tubing reliably and efficiently. Using an ExpanTek® Model 22 Series Ball Expansion Tool, the operator places a projectile like a chrome steel ball into the tube. Then positions the expansion tool over the tube end and starts the system pressure cycle. High-pressure water is directed behind the ball, forcing it down the length of the tube. The pressure quickly drops when the ball clears the tube allowing the ball to exit the tube at a low velocity for easy capture. No additional setup is required to expand different tube configurations on coils, as each tube is expanded individually.
