Description

Overview
In the chemical industry, powdery products such as detergents, cleaning agents, masterbatches or plastics are often processed. Pelleting of powders and fluids facilitates handling, improves dosing properties, reduces emissions and optimises processes. AMANDUS KAHL machines are established worldwide for these applications.

Pellet mills for the chemical industry
Powdery chemicals can present high dust emissions, poor flow behaviour and segregation. Compacting or agglomeration with KAHL pellet mills is an effective industrial solution: pelleting improves handling, dosing, storage and transport. KAHL machines are available with different die diameters and roller configurations to match specific process requirements. The 33-390 model has proven its suitability in chemical processing for decades.

Advantages of KAHL pelleting plants
  • Improved dosing and metering of powdery products
  • Refinement and stabilisation of finished products
  • Reduced dust emissions during handling and processing
  • Enhanced flow properties and reduced segregation
  • Increased bulk density — lower storage volume
  • Consistent homogenisation by KAHL pellet mills
  • Higher process efficiency and lower downstream losses

Flat die pellet mills for special requirements
KAHL flat-die pellet mills have been built for decades to convert powders into low-dust, easy-to-dose pellets. The 33 series, including model 33-390, is particularly suited to chemical applications. By combining customised dies and pan-grinder rollers, pellets with diameters from 0.8 to 20 mm can be produced. Pellet properties such as diameter, length, bulk density, strength and surface structure are adjustable via die and roller design.

Optimum operation with KAHL pellet mills
KAHL offers Electronic Automatic Pellet Mill Regulation (EAPR) to ensure stable press operation while reducing operator workload. Switchgear and control systems are programmed and installed by KAHL; bespoke user software improves operational safety and process control.

How it works
KAHL pellet mills work according to the pan-grinder roller principle: material is fed from the dosing device into the vertically arranged pellet mill. Cylindrical pan-grinder rollers roll the product on the customised die and press it through the die holes. The extruded strand is cut by knives to the required length and discharged by a transfer device.
