Description

The AQUATRAN 3/34 1-cell series of permeation analyzers are MOCON’s most trusted and reliable instruments for WVTR (Water Vapor Transmission Rate) testing on low to moderate-level barriers.Water vapor permeation analyzerTest film and packagesComplies with ASTM F12491-cell cartridge systemThe AQUATRAN 3/34 high-tech analyzers can test the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) on both films and packages from low to moderate barriers. They feature 1 interchangeable test cartridge that allows a wide variety of sample sizes and types to be easily and accurately tested.Highest AccuracyMOCON’s patented modulated infrared sensor is the only modulated sensor system on the market meeting ASTM F1249Detection levels down to 0.05 g/(m2 × day)Fully automated temperature, flow and RH controls simplify testing and provide unparalleled repeatabilityEasy to UseIndustry-fastest sensor response time allows shorter overall test timesRemovable test cartridges allow easy sample preparation on the benchAutomated test method can start a test by a single press of a buttonTruSeal® gas flushed perimeter sealing reduces background levels helping to increase accuracyThe AQUATRAN 3/34 WVTR analyzer is easy to use and offers the shortest test times available in the market. It uses MOCON’s patented long life modulated IR sensor which is the basis for the ASTM standard F1249.MODELS:This family of highly accurate instruments has 2 models each having a different factor of lower detection limits.A Model (low to moderate barriers) - able to test common barriers providing a range from 0.1 to 100 g/(m2 × day)H Model (moderate barriers) - the most popular detection range from 0.05 to 100 g/(m2 × day)The upper detection limit can be extended with the use of the reduced area film test cartridge (factor × 9), or various size masking. The series has industry leading features such as removable and interchangeable horizontal test cartridges, easy to use touch screen operator interface, and fully automated testing providing higher throughput in the lab with less training. For more than 25 years, MOCON’s PERMATRAN series of instruments have been the most trusted and longest lasting on the market. From simple single layered barriers to complex multi-layered barriers, the PERMATRAN-W 3/34 is the right choice for reliable WVTR testing.Features & BenefitsRemovable CartridgesEasy sample prep on the benchtopMore consistent loadingOne button release and loadingPneumatic clamping provides more repeatable resultsSpecialized cartridge options allow extended range testing without masks, improved accuracy testing paper-based barriers and custom fit designs for unique packages or productsTruSeal®Eliminate individual zeroReduced testing time (increased throughput)More repeatable resultsAutomated Control FeaturesFlow, temp & RH controlTest process development and recommendationsProgrammable test sequencingTest report printing and exportSensor protectionTouchscreen InterfaceIntuitive automated operation requires less trainingBuilt-in multi-level user management and data securityEvent log & trouble shooting guideSave on valuable lab space by eliminating need for PCModulated IR SensorShort exam times reduce overall test time to increase throughputLonger sensor life than others on the marketAccurate and repeatable resultsMost trusted modulated IR sensor that fully complies with ASTM F1249WarrantyFull 100% parts and workmanship warranty for 12 monthsExclusive 4-year warranty on the modulated IR sensorTechnical SpecificationsCapabilities - Model SpecificUnitsModel 3/34 HModel 3/34 ATest Ranges (50 cm2)g/(m2 × day)0.05 to 1000.1 to 100g/(100 in2 × day)0.003 to 6.450.006 to 6.45Test Ranges (5.6 cm2)g/(m2 × day)0.44 to 8900.88 to 890g/(100 in2 × day)0.027 to 57.20.054 to 57.2Test Ranges (5.0 cm2 masked)g/(m2 × day)0.5 to 10001.0 to 1000Test Range - Packageg/(pkg × day)0.00025 to 0.500.0005 to 0.5Resolution (50cm2)g/(m2 × day)0.00010.0001Repeatabilityg/(m2 × day)0.05 or 2%*0.05 or 2%*Temperature Control Range°C20 to 40 ± 0.220-40 ± 0.2Humidity (RH) Control Range Film Cell, Test Gas% RH100% and 50% to 90% RH ± 3 RH100 and 50% to 90% ± 3%Capabilities - All ModelsFilm Size: 4” x 4” Std, 2”x 2” optionalFilm Thickness: Up to 120 MilFilm Test Area: 50 cm2 standard cartridge, 5.6 cm2 cartridge - optionalPhysical Specifications15.5” H x 12” W x 23” D (39.4 cm x 30.4 cm x 58.0 cm)95 Lbs. The dry chamber and the wet chamber make up a diffusion cell in which the test film is sealed. Water vapor diffusing through the film mixes with the gas in the dry chamber and is carried to a pressure-modulated infrared sensor. This sensor measures the fraction of infrared energy absorbed by the water vapor and produces an electrical signal, the amplitude of which is proportional to water vapor concentration. The amplitude of the electrical signal produced by the test film is then compared to the signal produced by measurement of a calibration film of known water vapor transmission rate. This information is then used to calculate the rate at which moisture is transmitted through the material being tested.Characteristics / Technical Specifications:Water vapor permeation analyzer for films and packages1-cell cartridge systemPatented modulated IR sensorDetection range: 0.05 to 100 g/(m2 × day) (H Model), 0.1 to 100 g/(m2 × day) (A Model)Resolution: 0.0001 g/(m2 × day)Temperature control: 20 to 40°C ± 0.2°CHumidity control: 100% and 50% to 90% RH ± 3 RHFilm size: 4” x 4” standard, 2” x 2” optionalFilm thickness: up to 120 MilPhysical size: 15.5” H x 12” W x 23” D (39.4 cm x 30.4 cm x 58.0 cm)Weight: 95 lbs (43.1 kg)Voltage: 100 - 240 VAC 50/60 HzCarrier gas: Nitrogen (99.7% N2 or better)Test gas supply pressure: 29 PSI (2.0 Bar, 200 kPa)Compliance: ASTM F1249, TAPPI T557, JIS K7129, ISO 15106-2, GB/T 26253-2010, GB/T 31355-2014
