Product overviewCable cleats secure power cables to support structures to restrain movement and transfer short-circuit forces. BAND-FAST® stainless steel post-pull banding cleats are designed for high-density tray and ladder installations and are independently tested to IEC 61914 for short-circuit performance. They protect cable insulation, terminations and supporting infrastructure while enabling efficient installation.
Cable cleat calculator (purpose and workflow)The BAND-IT cable cleat calculator helps specifiers select compliant cleats by mapping key inputs (cable formation, peak kA rating, ladder rung type, spacing, cable diameter and units) to an IEC 61914-aligned recommendation. The tool provides a product recommendation, downloadable summary report and tabulated results with part numbers and sizing.
Calculator inputs (examples shown in the tool)- Cable ladder rung type: Slotted, Unslotted
- Measurement system: Imperial (in) or Metric (mm)
- Cable configuration: Single/Multicore, Trefoil, Quadrafoil
- Rung spacing options: 300 mm (1 ft), 600 mm (2 ft)
- Peak kA rating (short-circuit severity)
- Maximum cable outside diameter (mm)
Calculator outputs / product recommendation resultsThe calculator returns recommended products and a concise results summary. Information is presented in a primary results table and a secondary product-details table to support procurement and design decisions.
Primary results table (columns)Part Number | Description | kA Rating | Max Cable OD | Required Ladder Rung Slot Width | Spacing
Secondary product-details table (columns)Material | Band Width | Band Length | Package Qty | Cushion Sleeve Required | Test Report
Where cable cleats are used in a data center and critical power systems- Incoming utility and generator feeds
- UPS outputs and switchgear connections
- Main distribution panels and bus runs
- Cable trays and ladder systems across the facility
Standards and specification contextSelection follows IEC 61914. Short-circuit peak kA and cable formation determine mechanical forces; peak and RMS effects, cable OD and mounting strength drive cleat sizing and spacing. Use the calculator to ensure compliance with tested ratings and appropriate installation spacing.
BAND-FAST® (product approach) vs traditional cleatsBAND-FAST® solutions use stainless steel banding applied post-pull to secure cleats. Key differences include:
- Post-pull installation reduces friction and the need for pre-staging
- Lower component count and simplified on-site handling
- Low-profile design for high-density routing
- Stainless steel materials for durability
- Designed and independently tested to IEC 61914
- Faster installation and reduced material handling
Installation and design considerationsCable outside diameter including insulation and sleeves determines cleat size. Cleat spacing depends on cable formation, diameter, available short-circuit current and the strength of the mounting structure. Ensure the supporting ladder or tray can transfer short-circuit forces to avoid structural failure.
Product recommendation results (presentation)The calculator displays selected inputs, a product image placeholder, the primary results table and the secondary product-details table. Users can download a summary report containing the selected inputs and recommended part numbers for procurement.
