Description

Overview
Eye drops must be precisely dosed, aseptically produced and securely sealed to ensure patient comfort and treatment effectiveness. Our solutions combine precise dosing, gentle handling and consistent process control to produce safe, contamination-free ophthalmic products in plastic bottles. Liquid is dispensed using rotary piston pumps or peristaltic pumps depending on viscosity and formulation. A pharma-compatible design with optimised laminar flow supply and sterilisable product paths enables reproducible aseptic conditions and 100% in-process control (IPC) at full capacity.

Process description — Filling
Liquid dispensing is the core operation: rotary piston pumps combined with optional peristaltic pumps reliably process different viscosities and formulations. Gentle walking-beam transport positions each bottle under the dosing needle and reduces mechanical stress. Laminar flow conditions and sterilisable product paths create an aseptic environment. With 100% IPC every dosing volume is monitored in real time so deviations are detected and corrected immediately, enabling reproducible filling accuracy and validated process data.

Your advantages for filling
  • Highest dosing accuracy across different viscosities
  • Flexible product handling via rotary piston or peristaltic pumps
  • Real-time quality assurance through 100% in-process control (IPC)

Process description — Closing
Closure stations protect the container integrity and dispensing function. Stations handle dropper inserts, screw caps, snap-on caps and multi-dose dispensers reproducibly and with precise control. Format-specific transport ensures exact positioning and stable hold. Pharma-compatible design and laminar flow supply support the aseptic environment. Torque and force control are implemented to maintain seal integrity and consistent opening characteristics across the production run.

Key advantages for closing
  • Support for a wide variety of closures (dropper inserts, screw caps, snap-on caps, multi-dose dispensers)
  • Reproducible torque and force control for reliable seals
  • Lower reject rate due to stable, validatable processes

Technologies & Features
  • Gentle walking-beam transport: format-specific intermittent transport reduces mechanical stress and particle generation and ensures stable container movement through all stations
  • Flexible dosing modules: choice of rotary piston pumps or peristaltic pumps for precise dosing across viscosities; modular concept enables application-oriented designs
  • 100% in-process control (IPC): every filling monitored in real time at full capacity, deviations detected and documented
  • Sterilisable product routes: product-contacting parts autoclave-capable to facilitate aseptic operation and validation
  • Pharmaceutical-grade construction: cleaning-suitable design and material selection for GMP compliance
  • Optimised laminar flow supply: targeted laminar flow ensures unidirectional air conditions in the critical area, reducing contamination risk
  • Closure variety: supports dropper inserts, screw caps, snap-on caps and multi-dose dispensers

Applications
Designed for single-dose and multi-dose ophthalmic containers and a wide variety of closures and pack designs. Suitable for reproducible aseptic production from low to high outputs and for validated manufacturing environments.
