Description

Overview
The Branson™ GLX-AP and GLX-AS are automated simultaneous laser welding systems designed for integration into Industry 4.0 production lines and IIoT architectures. They combine controlled clamp force and welding energy using Branson’s patented Simultaneous Through Transmission Infrared (STTIr®) technology. Available with a Pneumatic Actuator (GLX-AP) or a Servo Actuator (GLX-AS), each unit operates as a self-contained weld process controller for high-throughput automated lines.

Key product description
The GLX series eliminates vibration and linear motion during welding to reduce particulates and produce uniform welds. Closed-loop sensor feedback provides continuous process monitoring, improving weld accuracy, repeatability and consistency. Systems are optimized for speed and throughput and include Branson’s High Power Laser Bank for demanding production requirements.

Features
  • Integrated automated process capability: synchronizes clamp force and precise welding energy for simultaneous laser welding.
  • Actuator options: Servo Actuator (GLX-AS) or Pneumatic Actuator (GLX-AP) to match automation requirements.
  • Patented STTIr® technology: reduces particulates and ensures homogeneous weld formation by removing vibration and linear movement.
  • Closed-loop sensor feedback: continuous monitoring to enhance weld accuracy, consistency and repeatability.
  • Weld recipe synchronization: SIG accessory enables recipe synchronization across multiple units.
  • Scalability: supports control and synchronization of up to 10 additional welding units via web HMI.
  • Standardized automation concept: aligns with Branson’s harmonized automation approach for easier system integration.
  • Connectivity and analytics: OPC-UA and Fieldbus support for data access and process analytics.
  • High-speed throughput: High Power Laser Bank optimized for rapid production cycles.
  • Hands-free web HMI: wireless parameter setup and adjustment for line integration.
  • Medical package option (GLX-1AS): ISO 8 clean room readiness, food-grade enhancements, stainless steel servo components, software compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU MDR 2017/745, plus network services for backup and synchronization.

Applications & Integration
The GLX series is designed to function as self-contained weld process controllers within complex automated production lines that require simultaneous laser welding, high throughput, precise weld control and IIoT connectivity. Units are suitable for production industries needing recipe synchronization across units and advanced process monitoring.
