Drilling jumbos are common machineries used in underground mining and construction where mining requires drilling and blasting. They are also used in tunnelling where the solidity of rocks prevents the use of tunnelling equipment. CREG single-boom, double-boom and multi-boom drilling jumbos are specifically designed and developed to meet various construction requirements. CTJ3A is a hydraulic 3-boom Drill Jumbo independently designed and manufactured by CREG whose coverage reaches up to 170m2. The maximum height of borehole is 12.SOm. Diameters of drill range from 43mm to 102mm. The maximum speed is 17.SOkm/h and the maximum climbing capacity is 18°. The tunnel is part of Yakang Expressway. The tunnel mainly comprises of rock mass class Ill and class IV and alternate granite and mudstone. The UCS averages 40MPa. CTJ3A adapts quite well to the ground. Its monthly advance exceeds 250m and each round could produce more than 150 boreholes. It takes only 3 to 3.Sh to drill a hole. The pure drilling efficiency sustains between 1.7m to 2.Sm/min. The overcut and undercut of boreholes are kept within 10cm. The machine is quite steady in both function and tunneling speed.
