Overview
Daifuku’s baggage transport and sorting solutions include versatile belt conveyors capable of handling baggage of virtually any shape and size. As one of the few providers that manufactures all three types of baggage carousels, Daifuku offers flexible alternatives to meet arrivals and baggage hall make‑up requirements. The range is designed for continuous, quiet operation with minimal maintenance, and supports custom height and layout configurations while complying with global OH&S and IATA standards.

Conveyor solutions
The general transport conveyor is a straight belt conveyor for standard baggage; it can be supplied with high side walls or stainless steel cladding for airport environments. Conveyors can be configured for merging, accumulating, inducting and sorting, and supplied as a horizontal surface or at an incline/decline up to 20°.

Conveyor types

• General transport conveyor: straight belt for standard baggage; supports merging, accumulating, inducting and sorting; horizontal or incline/decline up to 20°; optional high side walls or stainless steel cladding.
• Merge conveyor: features an angled edge (30° or 45°) where two lines meet; allows baggage to transfer between lines at adjustable speeds; merge priority can be set.
• Collector conveyor: located at check‑in to collect bags manually loaded or injected from check‑in conveyors; typically fitted with a stainless steel rim and usable as stand‑alone or to collect transferred bags.
• Metering conveyor: short straight conveyor for metering/queuing or creating separation; built with components to withstand frequent stop/start cycles; flexible bed width, belt type, sidewall height, length and conveying speed.

Carousel solutions
Daifuku supplies multiple carousel designs for arrivals and baggage hall make‑up. Configurations are adaptable to site height and layout and can be customized to user requirements.

Carousel types

• Crescent pallet: re‑circulates baggage on linked crescent‑shaped pallets in a continuous loop; suitable for arrivals or make‑up applications; design adaptable for height and layout variations.
• Overlapping slat: re‑circulates baggage on rectangular slats overlapped and linked in a continuous loop; length, width and height can be modified to specification; allows internal height adjustments within the loop.
• Inclined carousel: continuous re‑circulation for high accumulation and high‑volume operations; heavy‑duty construction where higher bag accumulation is required.
