Description

Description :
Unloading material onto a roof must be performed safely. Whether using a forklift or a lifting davit, risks are present. Equipping a rooftop unloading zone with a sliding barrier provides fall protection during lifting operations, creates an opening to allow a pallet or large item to pass, and can be closed after the maneuver to secure the worker handling the material.

General features :
  • 100% self-supporting
  • Maximum opening 10' (3 m)
  • Ergonomic handle located inside the guardrail
  • Conformity report included
  • 10-year warranty
  • Made in Québec
  • Meets loads specified in Article 4.1.5.14 of the National Building Code (NBC)

Why install a sliding barrier?
A sliding barrier protects the signaler or the worker receiving material on the roof by providing fall protection during lifting and by enabling the creation and reclosing of an opening dedicated to the passage of pallets or bulky items. Compared with a swing gate, it can close without material obstructing the barrier.

Where to install a sliding barrier?
Can be installed on all flat roofs requiring periodic maintenance. If the building has a lifting davit, a sliding barrier should be considered. It installs without penetrating the roof edge, whether a parapet is present or not.

Operating zone and loading zone :
  • Operating zone: 20' (provides a safe position for the employee who opens/closes the barrier; the employee must remain in this zone during loading).
  • Loading zone: 10' wide by 5' deep (allows receiving loose material or palletized goods; it is essential not to stand in the zone when it is open).

Standards compliance :
Product certified by an independent engineering firm. Complies with the loads specified in Article 4.1.5.14 of the National Building Code (NBC) (permanent guardrails) and also meets applicable OSHA standards noted on the product page.

Durability and materials :
Patented recycled rubber base and aluminum components provide high corrosion resistance and roof protection. Modular product, manufactured in Québec and eco-responsible.

Maintenance :
Moving element designed for long service life. Periodic lubrication of GA161-01 connectors with the lubricant supplied is recommended to maximize long-term performance.
