What is a PACS? A Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is used to store and manage digital image data. The system consists of a storage space, such as a server or a cloud, and software for data management. The PACS can then be connected to image acquisition software, for example, so that new X-ray images are stored directly in the PACS. The data in the PACS can then be accessed by all networked systems and end devices. All image data is saved in the standardized DICONDE format.
