These lightweight, hollow retroreflectors are made from three mirrors in a corner cube that is not affected by movement or position. The incident light is accurately reflected back to the source. There is no chromatic aberration or material absorption found in the solid glass prism-type retroreflectors. With the larger housings, the backplate has a number of different mounting holes within it.
The specified beam deviation value of each of the hollow retroreflector units is equal to the maximum deviation from parallelism of any single return beam from any of the six sub-apertures with a fully illuminated retoreflector. The existing wavefront is the resultant peak-to-valley wavefront deformation from a fully illuminated retroreflector.
