The 3575 series extensometer is ingeniously designed to accurately measure the transverse or diametric strain on samples that incorporate axial loading. The device can be used in conjunction with the 3542 series extensometer designed for axial loaded products.
The extensometer efficiently supports the test specimen without manual intervention. It provides optimal results when used to test samples sized 0-1 inch i.e 25 mm in diameter or width. The device is ideally used to measure Poissons Ratio transversely for anisotropic materials which comprise most composite materials. They are also used to measure the R-values of materials such as sheet metals.
The specimen to be tested is clipped onto the extensometer and held in position via a built-in spring assembly. The contact points are rounded to facilitate the specimen to be held tightly and immobile. The strain-gaged extensometers provide extremely precise results and are well matched with common test control units.
