Description

Model 242-Basic is a fully automatic electro-hydraulic cupping and deep-draw testing machine for assessing the ductility of coated ferrous and non-ferrous sheet metals, with a maximum drawing force of 200 kN.

Overview
The machine is designed for testing coil coatings, painted, plastic-coated or galvanized materials and is equipped with digital displays for reading the drawing force, blank holding force and drawing punch travel. It is suitable for routine quality assurance tests and for R&D investigations such as redraws and bead tests to intensify testing.

Application
Model 242-Basic is intended to perform Erichsen cupping and deep draw cup tests on sheet metal to verify that surface coatings are not damaged during deformation processes (three-coordinate-plane deformation as occurs in thermoforming and deep drawing). It is suitable for sheet thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 4.0 mm (based on material tensile strength of 400 N/mm²; maximum drawable thickness must be reduced/increased for higher/lower tensile strengths).

Purpose
  • Reduce reject rates by continuous monitoring of coating quality during production and in process control.
  • Immediate sorting of incoming materials by cupping or deep draw cup tests to confirm conformity with specified properties without special sample preparation.
  • Electro-hydraulic design ensures wear-resistant operation, high accuracy of test results, and low maintenance and operating costs.
