After careful pearling, the rice already has its typical white colour, while the surface is still a little rough. In the polishing machine, a feed screw transports the rice into the working chamber. The combination of a rotor with cams and the friction of the grains against each other and against the screen basket ensures gentle polishing. The detached polishings are aspirated and discharged from the machine through a separate aspirated outlet. The air flowing through the machine cools the product.
The intensity of polishing can be variably adjusted by means of an outlet plate loaded with counterweights. Water or other liquids can be added during the polishing process to obtain nice shiny grains.
The polishing machine is available in various sizes and can therefore be used for a wide range of applications. Depending on the desired final product quality, it is also possible to use several polishing machines in series.
In the subsequent process, the rice is classified into respective quality grades by means of a plansifter and an indented cylinder.
