Description

Overview
The safety sequence is a coordinated lock and interlock system designed to protect maintenance personnel on traction vehicles (mainline, metro, EMUs). It can be supplied as individual components or as a complete integrated procedure combining pneumatic valves, earthing switches and coded locks. Systems with distinct lock codes enable unique, traceable procedures per train/unit. Auxiliary switches are available for lock position indication.

Composition
The safety sequence typically includes a pneumatic valve, an earthing switch and a lock system. We design the complete safety procedure to meet operational constraints and the most economical solution for each customer. Complies with EN 60077-1, EN 60077-2.

Benefits for you
  • Extensive delivery history of safety products for rail applications
  • High variability to adapt the sequence to your fleet and procedures
  • Customized safety sequences and key coding per vehicle or unit
  • Wide range of lock types and mounting options
  • Unique key codes to prevent unauthorized operations
  • Door locks available for both indoor and outdoor use
  • Outdoor locks tested to 1,000 h salt mist for climatic resistance
  • Options:
    • Complete safety procedure with clear continuity of keys
    • Lock position indication light
    • Electro-magnetic latch

Pneumatic Valve — Key points
  • Suitable for mainline, metro and EMU applications
  • Actuation by lever or key
  • Position detection by limit switch or visual indicator
  • Supports one or more keys
  • Available as globe or linear valve

Pneumatic Valve — Parameters
Temperature range: -50°C ÷ 70°C
Pressure range: 850 ÷ 1,000 kPa
Compressed air quality: ISO 8573-1:2010 class 4.2.4
Control voltage (limit switches): (24, 64, 72) 110 V DC (or on request)
Ingress protection: IP00 (variant dependent)

Key Multipliers — Key points
  • Designed for mainline, metro and EMU usage
  • Actuated by lever or key
  • Accommodates different key types within one multiplier
  • Key rings and bespoke sizes available on request

Key Multipliers — Parameters
Temperature range: -50°C ÷ 70°C
Control voltage (limit switches): (24, 64, 72) 110 V DC (or on request)
Ingress protection: IP00 (variant dependent)
Supported keys: KABA, RONIS, VIRO, FICHET, IKON, PATRA & CHANDA (or on request)

Earthing Switch — Key points
The output key from the pneumatic valve becomes the input key for the earthing switch. This allows the operator to apply earthing to traction circuits; operation releases a new output key for the next sequence step.

Door Locks — Key points
  • Designed for mainline, metro and EMU applications
  • Multiple key types and codes available
  • Variants for outdoor or indoor installation
  • Options with or without a safety pin
  • Different key codes can be assigned per train unit
  • Protective lock cover fixed to the door lock

Door Locks — Parameters
Temperature range: -50°C ÷ 70°C
Ingress protection: up to IP65 (door lock variants)
Supported keys: KABA, RONIS, VIRO, IKON, PATRA & CHANDA (or on request)
Climatic resistance: 1,000 h salt mist (outdoor locks)
Material note: aluminium body option for reduced weight

Safety sequence diagram and hotspots
Diagram and annotated hotspots describe the sequence flow: Master Controller (driver desk locked) → Pneumatic Valve (pantograph lowered, valve unlocked, pneumatic circuits opened, output key released) → Earthing Switch (output key used to earth traction circuits, new output key released) → Key Multiplier (door lock keys released) → Door Locks (traction box opened for maintenance).
