OverviewThe FEHLMANN VERSA series (VERSA 645/643 linear, VERSA 745/743, VERSA 945/943) combines hard milling and coordinate grinding on a single machine. This integration lets users select the most efficient processing strategy per part without reclamping, reducing throughput time while maintaining high precision.
Advantages of combining hard milling and coordinate grinding- Single machine for both processes: hard milling and coordinate grinding on one platform
- Single clamping for milling and grinding — eliminates reclamping and reduces positioning errors
- Shorter lead times by performing successive operations on the same machine
- Re-use of high-precision setup: invest once in accuracy and benefit for both processes
- Higher process reliability and productivity
- Pre-milling before grinding ensures correct initial contact and eliminates variable grinding allowance from heat treatment distortion
- Consistent surface quality and form accuracy through optimal sequence selection and automatic dressing of the grinding pin
- Simplified NC programming: grinding cycles (reciprocation, dressing) can be integrated into the same program after milling
Workpiece loading – AutomatisabilityThe compact VERSA design is automation-ready. An automatic loading door located on the right side enables straightforward robot or conveyor integration. The work area remains front-accessible for setup and process supervision. Pallet management can be handled by the machine control or by the FEHLMANN MCM™ (Milling Center Manager) depending on pallet count and part variety.
FEHLMANN MCM™ (Milling Center Manager)FEHLMANN’s cell management system controls and monitors machine and robot. A Windows-based job table manages machining sequences, zero points and parameters. Operators can change sequence or parameters during operation. Features include tool-break monitoring, NC program error detection and event logging. The open Windows platform simplifies integration with higher-level systems.
