Description

Lighter. Stronger. Better. LEAF is Fordyno’s range of lightweight solutions for transport systems using advanced composite materials. Our LEAF products reduce weight and improve fatigue performance. Through LEAF, we deliver energy savings and improved system life for our clients. Lightweight. Each composite bogie is around 1,000kg lighter than a conventional steel frame bogie. This provides greater flexibility for operators to either, reduce weight and save energy, increase passenger capacity without affecting axle loads or extend the autonomous range of wire free operational vehicles. Intelligent. Strain sensors are integrated into the composite cantilever springs and bolster. These monitor internal strains of the bogie in real time. This data can be used to assess the health of the bogie structure without unnecessary downtime at the depot. Every train fitted with Fordyno’s LEAF: Bogie with integrated monitoring can provide ongoing, real-time train and track condition monitoring. Adaptable. The LEAF: Bogie is fully customisable to suit the rolling stock characteristics and network infrastructure. Primary suspension stiffness can be varied to suit the network by changing arrangement of carbon fibres. Cantilever spring length can be varied to achieve the desired wheel base for track conditions. Bolster width and axle length are both variable to match the track gauge.
