Description

ADHESION PROMOTER FOR ADHESIVES AND SEALANTS IN BONDING RIGID, ELASTOMERIC, SOLID AND FOAMED POLYOLEFINS Primer M 51 is used in pre-treatment of rigid or elastomeric plastics based on solid or foamed TPE to improve adhesion of some adhesives and sealants. Two part polychlororoprene adhesives suitable for this application, as well as one component reactive adhesives and sealants based on MS Polymer® often show a good affinity for surfaces of polyolefins materials treated with Primer M51, offering high strength and long lasting adhesive bondings. The application of Primer M51 does not substitute an accurate surface cleaning, generally achieved with solvents, and needed to remove pollutants which reduce adhesion. The correct solvent for accurately cleaning the surfaces it is usually identified each time on the specific material at stake proceeding with a test application. Given the wide variety of polyolefinic compound formulations, test applications are always needed to verify the final result, ensuing from the procedure of cleaning + priming + application of the adhesive or sealant. PROPERTIES Composition : synthetic resins and blend of organic solvents Consistency : low viscosity transparent liquid Solvents : aromatic hydrocarbon TECHNICAL DATA Solid content : 2,5 - 4 % METHOD OF USE Surface preparation: Surfaces must be dry and clean. To remove release agents or other surface pollutants like lubricants use solvents like ST 141 or ST 513. The quick drying of these solvents will allow the application of the primer within few minutes.
