Acoustic Camera: 48-channel array for indoor measurement scenarios
The spherical 48-channel microphone array is primarily designed for 360° sound source localization. The acoustically transparent carbon array construction is very light and stable. This enables easy handling and accurate microphone and array positioning even under harsh conditions. It captures sound sources from all angles and is therefore suitable for applications in rooms, buildings or vehicle interiors, even under real test drive conditions on the road or in the air.
Depending on the spectral composition of a signal, the measurement distance varies between 0.3 and 5 meters. Longer distances are possible for measurements in higher frequency ranges.
The transparent array design has been optimized to provide the highest possible spatial resolution and acoustic dynamics for the number of microphones, effectively minimizing partial reflections, sound pressure doubling at the array surface and resonance effects between the measured object and the array. In addition, the spherical geometry reduces aliasing effects. As this microphone array is omnidirectional, the beamforming results are usually mapped onto scanned 3D point clouds or 3D CAD models of the measured object.
In combination with the analysis software NoiseImage, sound sources can be isolated, localized and analyzed in terms of frequency and time response. In addition, this acoustic measurement system enables the creation of a three-dimensional acoustic map.
