Description

A split-pair 0-3 T variable field superconducting magnet specially designed to provide high uniformity over the entire field range, sufficient for NMR field measurements. This unlocks the possibility of using NMR to calibrate other field sensors, or for applications requiring high uniformity such as NMR-Dispersion, ESR, and ferromagnetic resonance studies. Features • 0-3 T variable field • Approx. 50 ppm or better field uniformity (10 mm DSV) across the excitation range • Suitable for use with an NMR tesla meter • Large, fixed pole gap of 25 mm • Large 25 x 150 mm sample access slot • Compact size, easy to site • Low fringe field   NMRD The 3 T metrology magnet is the ideal tool for variable field relaxometry (NMRD, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Relaxation Dispersion). Developed in association with Stealr srl (Italy) NMRD is used for characterisation of new MRI contrast agents optimised for new higher-field MRI systems. NMRD is also used in materials science for the characterisation of polymers, solid BSA, novel nanostructured materials, as well as foods, and discriminates between fresh and used oils. NMRD provides a wide spectrum of correlation times and dynamic models much more complex than what might appear from relaxation studies carried out at high fields and fixed frequencies. Other uses of NMRD include: Liquid crystals and lipid bilayers Field-cycling relaxometry in studies of bulk liquid crystals is attractive due to the strong relaxation dispersion that characterises these materials and the strong differences in the dispersions corresponding to different mesophases.
