Description

Overview
MOLIRIS KIT is an autonomous navigation kit for mobile robots and vehicles combining LiDAR-based perception and optional GNSS RTK. It provides map creation, automatic localisation on maps, mission planning via a browser GUI, dynamic trajectory generation, obstacle avoidance and direct motor control to enable autonomous task execution.

What the MOLIRIS KIT consists of
  • Navigation Electronics Unit: Core for environment-based autonomous navigation — mapping, localisation, dynamic path planning, obstacle avoidance and motor control.
  • Application Electronics Unit: Open application board for custom software, sensor and actuator management; preconfigured for seamless data exchange with the navigation unit.
  • Sensory Detection Unit: One or more LiDAR sensors supplying 360° detection and reliable perception in low-light conditions; supports multi‑LiDAR configurations.
  • Control Graphical Interface: Browser-accessible interface (PC or tablet) to view robot position on maps, manage telemetry, create and edit maps, program missions and use manual driving with collision avoidance.
  • Supervision Graphical Interface (Intellisafe): Advanced supervision GUI to connect sensors/actuators, define automatic actions on events or external commands, schedule missions and manage higher-level supervision.

Integration process (in 3 steps)
  • Preliminary Study: Feasibility analysis and integration project design based on the selected robot and application scenario; covers electronics, software and mechanical aspects.
  • Navigation Kit Integration: Mechanical and electronic installation of the kit on the mobile robot and initial laboratory testing.
  • Validation in Operational Scenarios: On-site validation tests in main operational scenarios to verify performance and readiness for deployment.

Advanced autonomous navigation for complex scenarios
The system extends beyond mapping and basic navigation with capabilities designed for complex environments:
  • 360° Full Vision: Supports simultaneous operation of multiple LiDARs for full coverage even with bulky onboard equipment.
  • Laser Exclusion Zones: Configurable areas around the robot to ignore in sensor processing (for mounted equipment or manipulators).
  • Safe Navigation on Custom Maps: Define restricted areas and safe corridors on custom maps.
  • Grass Terrain Compatibility: Algorithms to ignore tall grass when planning safe traversals in agricultural or overgrown areas.
  • Obstacle and Hole Detection (in development): Identification of holes in addition to obstacles for safer operation on uneven ground.
  • Obstacle Memory (in development): Persistence of obstacle information even when no longer in direct sensor view.

High-precision satellite navigation (GNSS RTK) — optional
An optional GNSS RTK module (with cellular corrections) can be included to provide high-precision outdoor localisation. LiDAR combined with GNSS RTK extends continuity between indoor/outdoor areas and supports accurate tracking without fixed local references. Note: initial GNSS RTK fix may take several minutes depending on satellite signal and cellular connectivity.

MOLIRIS KIT features
  • User-friendly: Intuitive browser GUI for mission programming and on-screen monitoring.
  • Open system: Application board for custom software and integration of environmental sensors or specialised actuators.
  • Versatile: Adaptable to various mobile robot platforms — logistics, patrol, security, surveillance and precision agriculture.
