Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTOs) are a type of industrial equipment used for air pollution control.
They are specifically designed to treat volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), and other air contaminants generated by industrial processes.
The regenerative thermal incinerator designed by RUIDING can also be coupled with wave–liquid synergistic treatment and high-efficiency waste heat recovery, resulting in lower NOx emissions. The unique continuous reverse-burning bed design enables the stable long-term operation of impurity-containing exhaust gas treatment.
Theory
The RTO is comprised of insulated chambers filled with high-temperature ceramic media. During operation, the polluted air enters the oxidizer through an energy-recovery chamber, where the ceramic media preheats it before it enters the oxidation chamber. As the air moves through the bed, its temperature rises rapidly. The oxidation reaction takes place in the combustion chamber, converting the pollutant-laden air into CO₂ and water vapour, and releasing a significant amount of thermal energy.
The hot, clean gas exits through the second recovery bed, leaving the heat in the ceramic media. In the next cycle, the process stream flows in reverse, using the stored heat to preheat the incoming air. By periodically switching the inlet, outlet, and purge processes, the flow changes direction in the oxidizer, completing the preheating, oxidation, heat-storage, and heat-release stages.
Advantages
No high-temperature flame combustion zone: flameless combustion results in low combustion noise and a uniform temperature inside the furnace, improving purification efficiency and extending service life.
PLC automatic combustion control ensures a high degree of automation, stable operation, and high safety and reliability.
The heat-storage chamber uses ceramic materials for direct graded heat exchange, leading to a uniform temperature rise, enhanced heat transfer, and a reduced incinerator volume. This significantly lowers equipment costs, land footprint, and construction/installation expenses.
RUIDING’s RTO adopts an innovative three-chamber heat-storage system, providing high radiation temperature and pressure, rapid heating, excellent low-temperature heat-exchange performance, and maximum recovery of sensible heat in combustion products. The result is high thermal efficiency, low exhaust-gas temperature, and remarkable energy savings.
RUIDING operates an advanced engineering analysis laboratory equipped with cutting-edge instruments, capable of analysing key parameters of hazardous waste and providing customised solutions tailored to each client’s specific needs and waste characteristics.
