Product Overview The Rhopoint IQ-S is a portable instrument for quantitative surface appearance measurement and defect evaluation. It measures gloss and advanced appearance metrics (RSPEC, Reflection Haze, DOI, RIQ) to detect defects such as haze and orange peel not visible to standard gloss meters. Available in Dualgloss 20/60° or Trigloss 20/60/85° versions for applications across matt to high-gloss surfaces.

Measured parameters

• GLOSS — measurement proportional to reflected light; select geometry by material (85° for matt, 60° for mid gloss, 20° for high gloss/metallic). Unit: GU.
• RSPEC — peak specular reflectance over a narrow angle, sensitive to fine texture changes. Unit: GU.
• REFLECTION HAZE — optical effect from microscopic texture or residue causing milky appearance or halo; reported in HU and LogHU.
• DISTINCTNESS OF IMAGE (DOI) — clarity of reflected image on a 0–100 scale (100 = perfectly smooth).
• REFLECTED IMAGE QUALITY (RIQ) — high-resolution metric for orange peel with strong correlation to visual perception; scale 0–100.
• GONIOPHOTOMETRIC PROFILE — surface reflectance profile (reported approx. 17–23°); curve shape characterizes light interaction and smoothness.
